With almost a mile of trails, the Hempstead Plains Preserve offers visitors the chance to experience Long Island’s critically endangered, grassland prairie.

The preserve is home to 250 species of plants including several that are globally rare. This biologically rich area provides important habitat for a wide variety of birds and butterflies.
